While The Fish Palace has many fans, some regulars mention occasional busy times, especially on weekends. This can lead to longer wait times for food, particularly during dinner hours, making it less ideal for those in a hurry. A few diners have remarked on the portion sizes, feeling that some meals could be slightly more generous, especially for the price range. Another point of contention is a couple of reviews around food being a bit oily for some tastes, although the majority find it just right. Lastly, the layout can feel cramped when the restaurant is full, which might not be ideal for everyone.
I'm so lucky that my local chippy is this incredible plaice. The chips are stunning, big, chunky, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. After a long day of work, I love to come sit in the quiet chippy watching a movie on my phone and slowly eating my dinner. The staff are super friendly, offered me a plate to eat off of, but I chose the paper. It tastes better eaten from paper every time. Will come back again and again.
Eaten here plenty of times as its out local. Everything ive had here is pretty decent. Good kids fish and chips, battered sausage and fried chicken are good as well. Chips are great as well. There is decent seating inside and outside.
When I am in this area once in a while I love to go to The Fish Palace, so I did today. Super fresh, battered and deep fried the moment you order. Just perfect 5* Yummy 🤤 experience. This is the £6 All Days Kids menu with additional mushed peas...next time I am up for the adults menu ;-)

Great chips. £3.50 for a small but the portion is generous. Not had anything else so can’t comment but always serving hot and tasty chips. Service is friendly and super quick.
Been here twice now, having only recently discovered it. Been a fish and chip fan since my childhood. These are some of the best fish and chips I've ever enjoyed. Soft , crispy, potato tasting chips. Wow. Ordered a large cod. Wow! Large, fresh fish, not overcooked. Crispy, non oily batter. If it's not good, I take it off and never eat it. Not a chance here, it's just too good. Fresh salad too, presented beautifully. Very clean establishment. Oh, and great friendly, efficient service. Oh, and great value.
